The Meadows festival was Union’s first festival. Dumbo (our soup van) had a great time, showing off his flash new army green coat, and we welcomed new staff, Charlie and Ros, as well as a new offering, Bunny Chow. Delicious lamb dhansak stew, a variant on our popular soup, ladled in to a Manna House artisan roll. Served with a side salad and a sprinkle of coriander.
Saturday came to an abrupt end when the heavens opened. Within an hour, Dumbo was surrounded by a puddle a coupleĀ of inches deep. However, the Dumbo crew were joined by a lovely gang of passers-by, who enjoyed some soup whilst sheltering under Dumbo’s wings. Everyone had a great time watching a man trying to show off to his friends and falling over in the big puddle.
Sunday held back on showers and the sun shone for the most part. The music was good with our own Emma drumming with the Beltane Beasties.
After a great first festival for us we’ll be back at the fantastic Musselburgh Racecourse on Friday 27th June before returning to George Square from Monday 30th June.
